This round covered butter dish was probably a giveaway premium for that oleo you mixed with the yellow colored dye in the 1940's. The white glob became suddenly more appealing when you mixed in the included yellow coloring. I remember my mother doing that.
A nice collector told me the bottom dish doesn't really belong to the cover, so someone has found a replacement that looks and fits like it belongs.
The plate measures 5 and 3/4's inches across. The outer rim with the crosshatch pattern, measures 1 inch. The bowl measures 3 and 1/2 inches across. The depth of the bowl is 1/4 inch.
The cover or dome stands approx. 1 and 1/2 inches high and measures 12 inches around.
There is a 1/2 inch high knob on the top of the cover.
The crosshatch pattern appears on the plate rim. You can feel it sharply on the underside. The top side is smooth. The bowl section of the plate has a radiant star pattern.
The dome or cover repeats the crosshatch pattern on the top.
I not see any makers marks on either the top or the bottom.
Excellent gift for a collector or for yourself.
